  • Asparagus plants need moving...

I have a couple of 5 year old asparagus plants which are not producing many spears and are in the wrong place (along the side of the greenhouse where I want to put my cold frames) I'm thinking of putting them in a raised bed which used to support my chicken ark (well fertilised!) Any tips which might help them survive the move, anyone?

There is no dress rehearsal for life. Not many second chances. Make the most of every day and spend as much of it as you can creating little moments of happiness!

I think they are difficult plants to move - large, and possibly fragile, roots systems. They will take a year or two to settle (same as if you bought new Crowns) ... so maybe buy new crowns instead? They are about £1 - £1.50 each I think (there is a specialist nursery in Kent which people speak highly of)
