  • Snail lobbing...........

Snails' homing instinct can be overcome, if you move them 20m away | Environment | The Guardian

Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I throw them over the back fence and aim to land them on the tarmac path, the sound they make when they land indicates to me that they aren't likely to come back! Especially with all the thrushes pottering about.

I always chuck em out the back fence into the woods, I'll make sure they fly 20m plus in the future

I've been doing this for years! Though I place or 'soft' drop them, not throw them. It's a living creature...

There was something on the TV earlier about how all the people that throw them into next door's garden are wasting their time, annoyed me that they thought that was acceptable behaviour, why should next door have your pests, do people also think it's acceptable to say empty a trug of bindweed over the fence? Of course not (I hope), give them a good stamp and sort the problem in your own garden / lottie.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I've tried lobbing them into your garden Alison, but its a fraction out of my range.

I don't see any problem personally with passing on your snails, I've tried passing them onto the chickens but they take no interest at all. What kind of chickens are they!!!

Hang on...... well chicken I guess.

Why didn't the chicken cross the road, because it was too chicken.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Next door's cat uses our garden as a toilet, so I have no problem with returning her 'offerrings' to their rightful owners. As far as snails are concerned, they get a free ticket to the other end of the garden - whether they come back depends on the birds that visit the bird table down there.
