  • First garden

Time for a brief introduction I think. I'm a complete gardening novice with my first garden and a little too much enthusiasm. The garden is a good sized space but has been neglected and mostly paved/gravelled with plastic sheeting underneath (this is actually a bonus as the parts that have been exposed have decent looking soil and hardly any weeds). I'm mostly interested in edibles and useful plants, flowers for bees and butterflies etc, and so far I have a few cleared veggie patches, a lot of seeds and plans for a herb patch.

The main niggles so far have been bluebells (the big kind - Spanish I think - pretty but there are a lot!), rhododendrons (yuk), pampass grass (double yuk), several large buddleia (nice in smaller quantities!) and a willow of some kind (this seems ok at the moment but I've no idea whether it will get huge). I will have many, many questions over the next few months

    Nice to meet you all!

A very warm welcome to the forum.

Hi Trix, welcome to the vine. No such thing as too much enthusiasm, it's what keeps you going when the weeds, slugs, snails, caterpillars, blight, cold, heat, get at your plants
