  • Hi from Gateshead!!!

Hi I'm Kev 35 from Gateshead. Have a long line of green fingered family members but I'm completely new to the game.

I've moved to Gateshead recently but am local to the area and have been unbelievably lucky to acquire a good sized allotment literally 3 yards over from my front door so over the moon.

As I'm not even at amateur stage I've roped in a friend who is keen to help.

We took over the allotment Winter last year and spent the following back breaking months clearing the place of everything from weeds to motorcycle weeds to glass to rubble.

Have joined this forum hoping to find a helping hand as will be sure to be stuck MANY times in the coming months.....as I type this the rain is absolutely batting against my windows which rules out any planned work this weekend!! Boooooo!

Rain has stopped now so going to pop into the greenhouse.

Have purple sprouting broccoli, spring onion, broad beans, berlotti beans, leeks to sing a song and tell a story too.

Hi from Whitley Bay and welcome to The Grapevine

I have found this site very informative as 2014 will be my first growing year too, having got my plot late in 2013.

There are quite a few Youtube series on allotment gardening, which I found fun to watch. Some of the 'gardeners' seem better at photography / film making than gardening, but all are informative.

                      Search for ..

                      Claires allotment
                      Seans Allotment
                      Rickvanman
Katie's allotment .... new one this year

I have a Youtube option on my TV package, so it's easy to watch, rather than having to sit next to the computer all the time
