It might do. Copper and something prickly I would of thought would work.
Its something you will have to keep us up to date with.

that's going to be expensive,is it possible to get more than 1 ring out 1 scourer,also you will have to keep on top of any bowing leaves hitting the ground as the plants grow,all you can do is trial and see, on looking at them being advertised it seems they are only copper coated,sigpicAnother nutter ,wife,mother, nan and nanan,love my growing places,seed collection and sharing,also one of these

You can easily get two or three maybe more out of each one.my aim is for my over wintered PSB where slug pellets need constant replenishment. These will work out at no more than 50p each.
I will try them and report back

I've used the copper slug tape stuck round sections of plastic bottles and found it works pretty well, although the odd leaf which touches the soil does get chewed. I slip the ring over the top of the plant when I plant out, before the leaves get too big and stiff.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. I'm building an electric slug fence around one of my raised beds to see if it works, should get my galvanised wire tommoz, hopefully should get it set up over the weekend
Pretty cheap to set up, wires cheap on amazon, and is powered by a 9v pp3 battery, last all season aswell

I think this May be the most friendly and effective way of stopping them, once they have been zapped a couple of times they get conditioned into repelling from the wire even before they get shockedComment

Last year my potatoes were destroyed by slugs. I plant them in bags as I don't have enough ground space. This year I have put the bags onto a pallet and put slug tape round the "legs" of the pallet. So far, no sigh of slugs. We built raised beds last year and had no slug trouble as the outside of the wood is too rough for them to slide up. I have also put some slug tape around my pots. Now I just need to work out how to keep them out of my greenhouses. They are destroying quite a bit of stuff already. My Aubergine plants are looking sad and one of my courgettes is beyond redemption. The courgettes will move outside when it gets a bit warmer so they should be ok but the aubs are stuck Inside for the long term. I have chickens so I'm not keen on putting down slug pellets. Any ideas anyone?

I have the same problem. Yesterday morning I went into my blow away greenhouse to find two trays of seedlings decimated. Only silver trails on the soil was left. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated 😞

My Dad has never had slugs in his veg garden, and they have lots in the rest of the garden. His veg beds are all raised, with timber plank edges, one plank high, and the whole of the walkways is membrane under stone. 3/4 stone he said, but I expect there is a newer name for it nowadays. It's bigger than pea shingle anyway. Cost him loads when he built it all, but was worth it from the slug point of view.Last edited by Glutton4...; 27-04-2014, 07:43 AM. Apart from my grape, nothing in my greenhouses is planted in the ground, it.s all pots. I can tape the bottom of the pots but the slimy little things still climb up the edges of the greenhouse and get to my plants. I wonder if I put a layer of some kind of stone or shingle on the floor, it might deter them a bit more. I don't think I'll ever be able to eradicate them but lessening them would be a big bonus. Thanks for that idea
