  • Remove broccoli from propagator?

    Hi Guys,
My broccoli has germinated, should I remove them from the propagator?

    TIA

Yes. It doesn't need heat. Leave it too long and it will go weak and leggy before your eyes. Do you have a greenhouse? It can go in there.

Thanks again for the advice Wendy and yes I have a greenhouse, should they be kept out of direct sunlight, it gets really hot in there when the sun is out.

.. and is it best to move anything out of the propagator once sprouted?

It might be worth providing a little shading for a day or too while the plants get used to the higher light levels. Anything once germinated can come out of the propagator, although I know some people keep chillies in there as they do need more heat. In that case you'd be using growlights to keep them from getting leggy.

the cold-weather veg shouldn't really be in a propagator, they don't need the heat. It's best to grow them cooler, with plenty of light: in an unheated gh or a coldframe
