I know others have had experience with this before.

We lost 5 sheds plus storage boxes etc on our site on Sunday night.

It appears they started at ours and then moved up the line of plots. We share a shed with our plot neighbor, all our tools, netting etc were split between the storage container and the shed.

    Before

Before and after- our storage box

They also ripped open the end of the new brassica cage.....

What a tradegy, were you insured? If it was kids one wonders what their parents were doing.

It's covered on the house insurance but I'm still working out if it's worth it with the excess and then the inevitable price increase.

When you add everything up that you accumulate over the years it soon mounts up, not just the tools but netting, especially enviromesh, leaky hose etc etc...

Obviously if you leave things at the plot you accept a certain level of risk, we had always thought it would be theft though, never considered this. It's a rural site with good fencing and gates. They seem to have come with this in mind- looks like petrol used to get them going quickly and all at the same time.

Hi so sorry to see so much damage. To actually come in with the intent is just so awful to think about.
Like you've said its all the things you've got and gathered over the years.
Have the other people affected got insurance?
Do the police have any ideas who it was or why? Hope they are taking it seriously.
                      So sorry again for you.

So sorry to hear all that, dear John. A really spiteful thing to do whoever it was.

That's pretty extreme. I've heard of vegetable rustling, theft of tools and even pre-horticultural show sabotage, but actual arson...

My advice: Keep gardening! If you jack it in, they've won.

(I use the word 'won' advisedly. Karma's got their number, irrespective of wheter the police catch up with them or not ...)
