Last year I planted Solent Wight cloves in February and lifted them in August, by which point they'd matured reasonably well.

I've never done very well with spring sown garlic, always ended up with teeny bulbs by the time the leaves have died down so can't be much help, sorry.

I always plant in Autumn and depending on the weather lift end of June or July. Although I think you can generally tell when they are ready by the top growth, it goes pale and/or falls over.

They are from cloves, should I be watering them daily? They are on a bank that gets the sun all day. Also after i lift them can re-sow more garlic cloves there?

            Thanks guys

Feb / March cloves always do well for me. They are normally ready in August. When the leaves start to go brown is the time to harvest. I always grow them in containers because about 20 mature bulbs last us through to the New Year and it avoids any thoughts about where to plant next year.
Don't replant garlic in the same soil for three years or so to avoid a build up of pests.

Are they in the ground? If so then you probably don't really need to be watering at all although yours will be used to it by now. I grow hard and rarely water things in open ground (after a good water at planting time) so the roots grow nice and deep and the plants are tougher.

I have some planted in open ground. I have a moisture minister thingy-me-bob that says the ground at root level is just right moisture wise the the soil on top is VERY dry and crumbly and I can see the top of the clove I planted. I don't want to drown it by watering more, should u just put some compost around the base of the plant?

"Garlic does not need additional watering, although during spring and early summer an occasional thorough watering during dry spells will improve yields. Don’t water once the bulbs are large and well-formed, as this could encourage rotting."
