  • Is this Basil?

    what's this? I've labeled it as basil but it doesn't look like basil to me.

    I agree, it doesn't look like Basil to me either. Rub a leaf between your fingers, you'll be able to smell if it is Basil. Not sure what it is though, sorry.

      I tried that scarey, I think it might be sage? Don't label things after a glass of wine lol

        It could be... There are various varieties one of which may have leaves like that. The smell and taste test will confirm one way or the other.

              was in the garden centre the other day and there was an american asking the assistant if they had any basil...pronouncing it as they do ...bayzil. Asssistant had no idea what he was talking about. American heard us talking in english as we do..and asked for help....couldnt remember the french for basil ..so just said BASIL and the assistant said AAAHHH! BASILIC !!!! American got his bayzil. No help at all for your question ....

                    (Hugely off topic for a moment) I was the first ever person to ask Toyah for her autograph. Must've been about 1978, when I was 15, at Eric's club in Liverpool. She wasn't anybody then; I think her and her band were supporting The Damned or someone (it was an amazing couple of years in that club) and when silly teenager me went over to her and her band, sitting at a table after their set, and asked for her autograph, she nearly fell off her chair. Still got it in the loft somewhere.

                    Anyway, Basil ...
