    Soil block makers - what you reckon?

    Evening all,

    Was wondering what everyone's experience of soil block makers is?

    If its good, any good places one could buy them from?

          I thought it looked very iffy, the blocks he was making were falling apart.

                  Watched the episode yesterday on repeat and thought that they looked quite interesting but not sure I'd use them much. I don't sow much in modules as I tend to use newpaper pots for small stuff and then pots with several seeds in for other stuff and I can't see they'd work too well for larger seeds but would be interested to see if anybody had been successful with them.

                      I thought that too, it did make me think about my potting which is either sad or helpful depending on if you garden I suppose!

                        I suppose the air-pruning effect is proven, rather than just marketing hype, is it?

                          I find that the little newspapers pots I use sort of air-prune.

                            I cram mine into a gravel tray so tight that I doubt there is any air between them! it is in the, probably mistaken, belief that it will stop them falling over

                              I do the same thing and I find those at the edge seem to lose the ends of their roots.
