  • Does anyone else have these little gel like balls on there grapevine?

I found them earlier when inspecting my grapevine.
I purchased last year from B&Q and it was in a sorry state.
The thing was really, really pot bound and what little soil it did have left had fallen out when the wind blew it over.
I honestly didn't think it was going to make it but i purchased it anyway, hoping i could get it to recover. And it has.

This is what i mean about these gel like balls.

I've checked every bud with leaves that are either as open as the ones in the image, or are just about opening.
These little things are on each of those buds.
    They also feel like gel.
Like the same type of gel used in soil for water retention.

Is it anything to worry about as the vine itself seems to be coming on nicely.
Also, i do have it in my greenhouse, even though it can apparently be left outdoors in this current climate, so could it be anything to do with the relative humidity of the greenhouse itself?

I'm not really sure what you mean but I'm wondering whether the vine is "bleeding"? Has it been pruned recently?
My grape vine grows along the back of my house -south facing. It does very well every year, I can never really use all it produces.

It has been pruned but not by that much.
And it was done a couple of weeks ago, just as the leaf buds were in their infancy.

What i mean is those little clear, gel like balls that you can see at the base area of the leaves.
You could almost mistake them for bugs eggs but they are on the newest of the leaves so i've ruled out a bug issue.

It is normal and it is nothing to worry about.

apparently it is fairly common at this time of year and is a water retention problem which rights itself later in the year.
