  • Spring must be here.....

Today in the garden there have been ladybirds, tadpoles, butterflies and a bumble bee seen nesting in the hay in the shed (never seen the last before).

What wildlife signs are everyone else seeing?

Our willow trees are turning green, the gorse is in full bloom, butterflies and bees appearing, starlings nesting in our eves long bright evenings. I love each season but spring and autumn are my favourites.
The best things in life are not things.

Bumble bee queens, butterflies, lots of midges, gorse in bloom, bees bringing in yellow (willow) pollen, Japanese cherries in flower as are magnolias further down the valley, frogspawn, magpies trying to nest in our cyprus tree :-(, tulips out..

Last year there was 5cms of snow...this weekend.

Tadpoles, bumble bees galore, Peacock and Red Admiral butterflies, Cherry tree has been in flower for a couple of weeks, flower buds on plum and pear trees, violets and primroses, trees greening up, mole hills - love this time of year

My first slow worm of the year on the plot! It was a very pretty female and she was catching a bit of sun when I came across her.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

A few more swallows today. Wall and green lizards out in the sun as well as the arrival of the black redstarts. And blossom everywhere. Due to freeze/snow again at the weekend

Noticed loads of ladybirds on my allotment last weekend, haven't seen so many in years. I hope they're the native ones and not the harlequin baddies...will take a closer look next time I'm there.
