  • Hello from North Yorkshire

    Hi All,

Been looking at a few threads and reading the knowledgeable responses and thought I'd register. My wife and I subscribe to GYO magazine so it seems like a logical step to join the forum.
We have 3 young children (all girls) so life can be hectic at times and gardening can be a good way to escape (so to speak)
We have a smallish garden where we mainly grow flowers and a fair bit of fruit, we also grow a bit of veg in pots. Our main source of veg is from our allotment which we've had for about 4 years now and we love it. It keeps us sane and also gives us lots of fresh fruit and veg. We also keep a few hens which keeps us well stocked in fresh eggs.
Looking forward to the new season ahead and I'll be asking for lots of advice in the coming months, and occasionally chipping in with my experiences too.

    Happy growing everyone

Hello and welcome to the vine.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

                Welcome from South Yorkshire.

For those of you thinking it, the relationship between South and North Yorkshire is identical in almost every single way to that between South and North Korea. As such this message of peace is a significant diplomatic advancement. I am looking forward to a fruitful and peaceful exchanging of thoughts, ideas and advice between the two great states (as well as an opportunity to pry into the other lots intelligence operations).

Hey, just down the road from me!

I've just (2 weeks ago) got an allotment in Guisborough. Good to see there's someone else from round here. Be great to see some pics of your plot... As a newbie, I'm keen to see what others are upto.
