On doing a search the first paper on the use of levamisole in chickens suggests A 9 day withdrawal period.

Levamisole definitely has effects on people - its usually used on alternate days as a prevention for relapse in nephrotic syndrome and people on it need regular blood tests. It isn't used for worming people (at least not in the UK).

Cheers for that information. So it can be used for chucks as long as you don't touch the eggs for over a week. At least I know just in case I where to run out of Verm-X I was also told some time ago that you can add Smite mite powder to chuck food to combat worms however all I have found on the subject is "It can support a healthy gut" It didn't say how.

Or buy flubernvet online and no withdrawal period, plus the benefit that it is for chooks.

I wouldn't give pigeon medication to chickens, as you are eating the eggs why take risks?Flubenvet is an approved wormer for chickens without the need for egg withdrawal . You can easily get it from your local vet.

I'm not looking to give my chucks this medication I was asking about it as the place I get my chuck food from suggested it when I asked if he could get hold of stuff for chucks. I tend to use Verm-x and Smite but was just checking out the info I was given by my chuck food supplier.

Our local vets do not sell Flubenvent and have suggested getting it online as it would cost me more if they bought it in, that was also another reason I was asking.

None of the local places sell it so it's either go online to buy it or it's a visit to pets at home for Verm-x or as I do now ( Buy it online. )

If I was in a position where it was an emergency supply which I could never see being the case. But if it was then at least I know that there is an alternative which requires the abstaining of egg eating.

Verm-x is not a licensed wormer but a supplement for "intestinal hygiene"

Marriages do a feed with it premixed in which is quite popular and available online and at some feed stores (and can be cheaper than buying flubenvet+feed). As people have said Flubenvet is available online.

The small packs are 60g and that will do 20kg of feed. They need to be fed it for 7 days.

As Martin has said Verm-x is not a registered wormer. Verm-x can be used alongside flubenvet but not instead of.
For a healthy gut, I use ACV monthly and also garlic in their water but I also use the flubenvet every quarter. If your chickens have access to fresh ground every six months you can reduce this to twice a year.
