    over wintered chillies

    In the office I grew two chili plants

    1)Wilko Patio Favourite Hot Patio Sizzle Pepper, very hot
    2)A bit of an unknown, small and round and very very hot.

    1) Went crackers, loads and loads of small hot chilies.
    2) Didn't do too well ( 2 chilies )

    Both are still alive and 1) is still growing chilies.

    Should I cut them back or leave alone ?

    The chillies that I have kept in the house all year round are still fruiting. I wouldn't bother cutting them back now.

        I'd just leave them now...

        The days are getting longer slowly but surely......

        In 6 weeks or so, they should really start growing. (At least mine did last year).

        Binley - What happened to yours?

        I have lost one out of five so far. My paper lantern has snuffed it. Gutted, as I had at least 150 chillies off that plant last year......

          I feel your pain. I had a perfectly formed Espelette plant, pruned and in a prime spot ready for the dormant period. Beginning it's 2nd winter, it had good size and shape, almost symmetrical branches, healthy bottle green stems; I had high hopes for it for next year. On the compost now, withered and went black inside of a fortnight. I did have a spare espelette plant for a time but gave it away thinking I wouldn't need it. (Even with the best preparation, luck plays its part).
          Two plants of Hot Lemon / Lemon Drop are looking good, but they always do. This strain is probably one of the VERY BEST for overwintering.

            I still have a few hanging on, but some of them look dodgy - as in the I may have cut them back too much dodgy..
            Couple of others looking ok so far
            I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

              Yes, Lemon drop and habaneros do the best for me.
