  • Introducing myself.

    Good morning everyone.

Well this is a new venture for me, something I have been considering for far too long. I’m green of fingers, that being green from the very new sense, so I’m hoping to lean on my virtual spade and gather together some of the wealth of knowledge an understanding from this forum.

I live in the North East of Scotland in a valley, which can be windy and very cold. I have a south facing garden with good exposure to wind, rain, and sun so I hope over the coming months, weeks and years to take full advantage.

My goal is to start small this year and to build up slowly. What I’m really looking to understand is when to start. Presently I don’t have a greenhouse so not sure where I stand from a propagation point of view but I’ll read on and hopefully that will be resolved in time.

I did create one raised bed and the back of the house, that was a disaster so I’m going to start that one again with some better advice.
I look forward to reading and learning from this wealth of knowledge.
    The game is on.

Hello and welcome from another valley dweller

We too are south facing, possibly as wet but bloomin' hot in the summer.

You can start many things off indoors (I don't have a greenhouse, either) but just need to introduce them carefully to the outside world.

      Enjoy.

Welcome, I am interested in how your raised bed was a disaster? We learn a lot from other peoples mistakes. My advice is to not be too eager to sow seeds, even indoors because we aint done with winter yet and a lot of seedlings that need to go out is not funny when its to cold to do so.
