  • Hello everyone.

Hello all. My name's Rob and I'm new to the thread. I've posted one question and already had some great answers and suggestions which have been very helpful. Looking through the threads I also found the answer to another question I was going to ask. I've been a novice gardener for a number of years. Started with houseplants in my university days, moved on to container gardening when I only had a patio and now I've got decent space I'm designing my garden from scratch and trying new things: digging beds, planting trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals and now I've built a raised bed to start venturing into the world of vegetables.
My ideal day out would be shopping at the garden centre and my ideal day off is spent in the garden planting, pruning, deadheading, digging or general tidying. I do have a tendency to move things around a lot too, to see what they look like in different places. My ideal evening would be spent talking garden, watching gardening tv or drinking wine. Looking forward to learning and sharing lots on this site.

Hello and welcome, and yes, sounds like you'll fit in well

Chatting with someone yesterday about no dig gardening and telling her how having hay bales around the edge of the garden has more than one use. Because of the baling twine holding them together, you can tuck the bottom of your wine glass under the twine and it stays upright while you're watering, or pulling a few weeds, picking some produce.
