  • Runner Bean - Hestia

Just bought some of the above seeds for growing in small tubs on the patio or as a patio table top plant.

Anyone grown them before ? What are the yields and the beans like ?

    Many thanks

    Andy

I grew them a few years ago - the beans are normal runner bean size, although the plants are dwarf. This means that the beans drip on the ground, where the slugs eat them.

You might do ok with them in a patio planter though.

Andy I tried them this summer and the yields were poor, this was one to a morrisons pot, not sure if the heat had something to do with it but I've gone back to climbers

Never did produce much for me either

I tried them too - rather half-heartedly, in a pot. I'd only grow then again as a "decorative" item to fill up a pot. Would prefer to grow full height beans.

I also grew them this year. Hardly any beans on them at all.

whereas my runners had loads of them!

I think we are perhaps of the same opinion that hestia are not a very successful bean to grow.
