I regularly reset mine, so not much help to you....Are you trying to record yearly data?

I reset mine every day, as I want to know what the temperature was overnight - rather than what it was overnight 3 months ago

Same here, It will record the highest and lowest temperature, unless it gets hotter or colder that reading will remain. So I set mine every day.

I wonder if Digmeplot's max/min thermometer has more settings on it than the cheaper ones like mine have :- B&Q Digital Max Min Thermometer,

Surely you need to re-set every day.

I reset mine each morning so the one that Digmeplot has must be different if it only needs resetting once a year.

Firstly what are you recording and for what goal? If it's yearly data, 1st jan if for general growing purposes, then everyday

I reset mine every day, or every day that I go in the tunnel or greenhouse. Don't really understand what this would have to do with solstice or anything like that so assume this must be a different thing to my simple max / min one.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
