  • Chempak

Has anyone used their fertilisers? I've just been in to buy some miracle gro which makes approx 700 litres @ 1kg but ended up going for the chempak which comes in 800g and apparently makes 1600 - 2000 litres
Sorry just thought I'd check it all sounds a bit too good to be true! Plus the chempaks npk are very impressive

Just looking at one on a webpage - it does read that it makes 2000l of stuff for only about 6 quid! A bargain!

I've just had another look, apparently to get the 2000l you halve the dose and feed every watering, that would mean you're using 5ml per 5l compared to 15ml per 4.5l for miracle grow
Sorry going on a bit but an average growmore feed could be 7-7-7, a good one I found was elixir 11-11-11+te but if you get the balanced feed from chempak it's 20-20-20+te so in theory I bet you could halve it again to get the same results

When using NPK to judge a fertilizer you have to take into account only the N is an actual percentage.

To give you a clue a NPK formula of 18-51-20 when converted to actual elemental percentages reads as follows.

        N 18% P 22% K 17%

OK, well that's all well over my head. I spread H/M compost over everything and it all seems to grow well enough (except, as ever on clay, carrots), so I'll just carry on with that and use the money saved to buy carrots

          Endless wonder.

It's a bit like buying branded medicines instead of generic ones. Famous names cost more!
