  • Olive pips!

    Hey everybod! I ate some fab olives are zizis last weekend and kept the pips! Can I grow these? Or will the have been cooked/irradiated etc....! If I can, what should I do to start them off? 😀

      Most olives served up for us are from a tin or a jar where they have been heat processed or stored in brine and so will be completely dead. If you want to grow them from a stone, I would try somebody who has a large olive tree which actually fruits, or maybe a botanic garden which has one. Otherwise, take a good summer holiday in a country where they are grown around the time of the olive harvest and you will have no problem picking up masses of fresh, untreated olives.

        ^^ Agree, the ones you've eaten will have been processed and pickled. I could ask my Father-In-Law to send some from Cyprus?
