  • Lettuce igrowing on window sill

Probably not a particular novel idea but been shopping and bought some lettuce and they were selling lettuce planted in small trays which you just cut as you need. I thinking of using some small trays to grow some myself and thought I would share the idea

They sell mixed salad leaves for cutting too. If you prick out some of the lettuces and plant them up individually, you'll be able to pick more leaves from them. Its easier than sowing more seeds

I hadn't even thought of doing that. They could easily be planted on. Its can be strange where you can get an idea from, only went to get something for my sandwiches for work.

Its an easy way to get seedlings, especially out of season - as they've put all the hard work and expense into raising them and all you have to do is pot them on. It works with the herbs too as there are usually dozens of seedlings in a pot of parsley, chives, basil etc.
