Thanks Bren, but the small print says " Plastic barrels used previously for water proofer" so if they have had chemicals in them I doubt very much if they suitable for use as water storage.

That's not good is it seeing as they're listed under 'water butts'

Sorry to narc an old thread . . . but why not pop down to your local indian take away / restaurant and ask for their empty mango chutney container? Blue barrel that holds 10 gallons. . . food safe and has only contained - fruit!

My local Indian goes through about 4 of them a week, and are more then happy to get rid of them through the side door (I also scavenge their wine bottles for the home brew) . . . .
