  • Russian Tarragon - Is it any good?

I have wanted to grow some Tarragon for a while.
Yesterday I bought some Russian Tarragon seeds.

When I looked on internet there are 2 main types.
    Russian and French.

Many people say that Russian Tarragon is tasteless.

Should I just throw the seeds away?
Is Russian Tarragon really just a tasteless weed?

Aparently the French Tarragon never seeds and can only be grown from cuttings,
that is the way to identify it.

I wanted tarragon to blend into home-made mustard. Bought Russian seeds, started growing them but then found out about the French/Russian difference and let the Russian ones die off. Now waiting for next spring to buy some French plants. These look OK.

I've had both. IMO Russian is a waste of space. Haven't used this company but theior prices are very attractive 5 Tarragon French « Battlesbridge Mills.

the french is good and can be propagated from root cuttings but can't take very hard winters outside, best to put the pot undercover in a greenhouse or shed overwinter and just keep the soil moist as it will die if cold and waterlogged
