  • Peas and potatoes

    Hi

A few questions for you all

Can I plant the peas that I have just picked or can I only used dried ones?

When do you all pick your potatoes? When they have flowered? When the flowers have died? When the foliage has died?

I have aphid on some potato plants so am going to chop the affected ares off today, will they still continue to grow?

I know so many questions but any help is great fully received xxxx

Fresh picked peas that are nice to eat aren't mature enough to sow.

If you want to save seed you need to leave a few pods on the plants until they are really dry and brown. Then pick them, pod them, dry the seed further and store in paper bags until you are ready to sow them.

Depends on the variety really. First earlies take least time from planting to harvest. Maincrops can take 20 or more weeks.

Once the foliage has died or been cut off the potatoes underneath won't grow any more, but can be left in the ground and lifted as and when required.
