  • Alicante tomatoes

    Hi all
Due to lack of space in my greenhouse, I have had to plant my Alicante tomatoes outside. They are about a foot high and have just started to form flowers. Has anyone had experience of this type? they are planted near to some climbing beans. Advice welcomed, as always

I grew Alicante outdoors on my balcony last year. They are cordons. They grew and produced very well for me.

I have four Alicante plants about the same size as yours NM and they've been outside for the last 3 weeks and growing well. Stems are really stout and sturdy, despite the iffy weather. Long may they continue to flourish!

Good luck with your plants, Normans Mum! I also want to add that they do set fruit very well in cooler temperatures but it took a long time for them to ripen. They were only decent eaten raw, but much more flavoursome in pasta dishes
