  • Bug on a grape vine

I have a grape vine which is about 5 years old. This year after pruning I noticed along the stems were a line of small bumps ( about the size of a full stop). With a lolly stick I scraped them off and squashed them all, so they must have been alive this I am doing every day.
My question is has anybody have any ideas what they could be, am I doing the right think by killing them, and could they spread to my other two vines.

      Probably scale insects.
