  • Brussels - too late to sew?

(...I have a feeling I will be making a few threads tonight...)

Is it too late to be sewing Brussels sprouts for christmas dinner? The packet says last sew date end of April, and if it were any other year I doubt I'd be asking, but with the weather I figured I might as well.

I think I will be sewing them anyway - as an experiment if nothing else - but are there any sneaky tips and tricks which I can use to bring them on quicker, or make them germinate faster, or anything really to make up for the fact that I bought them and checked their sewing dates after I got home? (ehehehehe.. )

...And was it bad that I only just realised they're called 'Brussels sprouts' and not 'Brussel sprouts'?
Forgive me for my pages of text.

If you're desperate, buy a few plants from a garden centre for Chr***mas sprouts and grow yours to eat in January - although they may be ready in time!

I have planted some more because the ones I had planted out were eaten by something. they are have just started to poke out of the compost so will be replacing the ones I lost once they have got a bit bigger. Don't know if the second batch will be ready for Christmas but I am hoping they will, I was picking sprouts well before Christmas last year so even allowing for the delay still hopeful.
