  • Nothing doing

I planted my early potatoes in mid April but as yet there is no sign life, it's exactly the same with the asparagus is anyone else having this experience. I live in Littleborough near Todmorden

Yes, growth is very slow so far, I have 2 spud plants emerging from the 8 rows I planted and I have had just 2 meals of asparagus. I think the ground is still cold.

Did you chit them gordoner? I planted up 3 beds, each 2 weeks apart. The ones that went in last are the most advanced now! They had bigger chits when planted while the others were in cold soil longer. Lesson learned for me

The spud foliage here has just broken the surface. We've been cutting asparagus for a couple of weeks

My earliers were planted 20th April. Chitted.

Row 1 is fully out and about 300 mms tall - they were under cloches.. now moved last week to Row 2.
Row 2 - cloched for a week - are all out - height varies from 4 mms! to 100 mms
Rows 3-6 - unlcoched have some traces of potatoes but most are not out.

It's 9C at 1pm.. no wonder they are slow.

Mine started to come up a few weeks ago. The tatters in my tubs have been up a while though.
