I like to have music whilst I'm doing stuff. I listen to most things.....although I haven't a clue who most of the people in the charts actually are - must be getting old. I like pop music, rock, choral, classical....and anything I can sing to.

I've got a CD player in the workroom, and another in the kitchen and my hard drive stereo in the living room and my MP3 player. But I need something fresh to listen to.

    Suggestions, please?
    Jules

R2 until Midday, and again after 2pm. Ipod in between. No offence Mr. Vine, but I just can't be doing with listening to folk arguing. I used to listen to V!rg!n/Asb0lute but can't abide being bombarded by the adverts that are the heart of independent Radio.

Usually though, especially if I'm out gardening in a peaceful place, I just listen to the Birds.

I completely agree with all above, I'm a radio 2 listener at heart and hate to miss Ken Bruce, but 6 music has some cracking shows, especially Craig Charles Funk & Soul.

            No, can't 'do' radio. Sorry

The BH has the radio on in the car. If it isn't pompous people waffling about politics, then he has on commercial radio - which is banal and the music (when they do play some) is awful. Or sports - which I can't understand because he gates sports

Found some good and very cheap compilation cds on Amazon whilst I was awake in the wee small hours. They should be here tomorrow.

Lately, I've been hooked on Benny Andersson, which is the most peculiar mix of music styles, but really brilliant. Yesterday one of my sons bought me a compilation of tv ad music - I like most of it but I'm struggling with Grace Jones......

I'm utterly gobsmacked at the amount of songs I know the words to - I mean, how on earth do I know the words to Jim Reeves' Welcome to My World? It came out years before I was even thought of. It's funny how much you absorb without realising it.

None of that on 6. That's why it's called '6 Music'.

However if it's Buble that floats your boat, best not tune in.

I used to work away from home and had to drive for about 5 and a bit hours to get to where I was going every Friday/ Sunday.

I got the Original 106 app on my phone which is s really good mix. Also loved listening to audio books. As you can possibly guess from my posts, Tony Robinson reading the Terry Pratchett novels are a favourite. There is nothing in the world which is more relaxing than having a good story read to ypu by someone with a nice voice to listen to. KCN has even read to me on long journeays and it is fantastic...

Ooooh, yes OITC, audio books are fab. We have the whole of H@rry P0tt€r read by Stephen Fry. He is so good, it's like you're watching it. Recommended.

I also download S!m0n M@y0's confessions, and listen to them if my Radio's flat, or I'm in a poor signal area. Podcasts are great, and most of the Beeb's Radio stations have them. They are free to download.

We've got the full set of Harry Potters too. And the OH has the full set of Lord of the Rings. They always go with us in the car on long journeys, used to keep the kids quiet.
