  • On the Street Where I Paint

We're not finished yet, but here's the street for trainee Gas people so far......

    The street...

The pink cafe and the house next door......cafe isn't finished yet. Can you see the sister's empty milk bottles? Nope......

The sister;s creeper and the empty patch next to it where my cat was before she painted over all my hard work in thirty seconds....

    My brick house

The blue house and the florist

      My topiary

The topiary after I painted pots and the sister stuck paper daisies everywhere

      My sister's freaky cat

Didn't get a photo of mine - you can see the sister in the first picture, roller in hand, after removing my tortoiseshell cat......I won't forgive her for that in a hurry - even the Big Boss asked where it had gone and why.

Yup, with a car sponge cut to shape and then I used a wee bit of sponge to shade them.

          Very nice work.

Don't understand why you've been cold - look at all those gas fires!

OMG it's cold in there......I so wish we could light the fires, but I think we'd huddle next to one and not move. At least when it's cold you keep moving. Today we haven't been up & down ladders, or standing on chairs, so we've been really cold.

What on earth did she do that for Jules?! Sounds horribly spiteful

It all looks fab though, really love the topiary

No idea Sarz.......This is blowing my own trumpet, but I suspect jealousy. I have to sort out that freaky ghostly thing she's painted on the blue house - I can't leave it like that. It's scary....

Well I have been in a lot of college's over the years for precisely that purpose, but I have never seen one decorated before. Usually dark dingy places.

I think they have made it nicer to throw the students off what they are supposed to be doing. To busy looking at your excellent work and not looking for the faults presented.

Oh and don't bother to try and light the fire the gas is.................................turned off.

It really is fab, Jules I'm glad you've done the commission justice, especially in the face of your sis wanting to take short cuts.

I often wonder if I'm a mug for insisting that a job is done properly when we could (and everyone else in the universe would) get away with a short cut that no one would (probably) ever know about, and which would boost the bottom line. But I'd know, and my way I can sleep at night.

Nice to know I'm not alone!

That's just how I feel Hazel. I want my work to stand the test of time - I don't want stickers etc falling off two minutes after we've left. The client isn't paying for stickers - they could do stickers themselves. They specified that everything had to be flat, nothing was to be done that could be caught on clothing or with equipment, but the sister has bought stuff that will do just that; plaques and hanging things etc.

We'll see how it goes on final inspection.....

The reason they want that area clear is all the emergency 'OFF' controls are located along the walk way,
                          electric, gas and water.

When the bays are in use the area can present quite a hazzardous enviroment. The lecturer's will set specific defects on the appliances in order to test the students fault finding capabilities. And sometimes they need to hit the big red panic button in a rush.

                              Finally finished.

I did rescue the ghostly white cat, turned it into another tortie in the sister's absence (she skived off somewhere) but the the sister decided that the head was wrong and 'fixed' it. The cat now resembles a fox.......never mind. Too late now.

Potentially, I have been offered another few weeks' work painting some hoarding panels. They want a night time cityscape, in blacks & greys with 'lit' windows. They will need this in term time. The sister will be back to her day job then, so she doesn't want me to do it - but the job was only offered to me and I want to do it. She is a bit huffy. The chap is going to look into it and let me know.
