  • Psoriasis

Just found out that this is whats effecting my elbow. I have been heavily moisturising for a week.

Does anyone have any other treatments? They could share.

Argan oil is supposed to help, although I cured my lad's psoriasis with Oilatum and E45 aqueous cream. Coal tar is seen as a carcinogen these days. Stress is a key trigger, but are you sure it's not a chemical reaction of some sort?

I really have no idea whats brought it on but I can be sure it isn't stress. I just don't stress about anything.

Will have a look at all your suggestions and thanks, its not painful but bladdy annoying.

Aloe Vera is good for all sorts of skin complaints - I use it on sunburn, prickly heat or any itchy bits.

Sorry Colin but you need to go to GP & get a Dermatology referral.

That's why I suggested a chemical burn of some kind? You don't seem a stressy person. Sometimes contact dematitis can look like psoraisis. The latter is silvery white scales that when softened and lifted are pink underneath. It's an overgrowth of skin cells. You basically make them too fast for your body to shed them in normal fashion.
A GP diagnosis would be best. They will probably give you a topical steroid cream.

From what I have been reading I think it may just be a winter thing, long sleeved sweatshirts, no sunlight to the affected area.

I mess with some pretty nasty stuff at work on occasion's but non recently. Since I have been using the moistureiser it has got a heck of a lot better but just can't seem to shift the last bit.

Thanks for all the advice everyone.

I recently found that wearing a casmere jumper causes far less itching on my elbows & forearms

Get sunlight on it as much as you can and use an unscented emollient on it to soften the scales. It may bleed, so be careful. The idea is to just keep it moisturised and to keep taking the dead skin off gently. If you choose to go down the GP/steroid route, they can thin the skin with repeated use, so you have to be careful getting if getting too much sunlight on it in the future. I gave my lad a Vit D supplement too, but I am not advocating that here. As with all things, probably best discussed with a doctor.
                        Is it itchy?

The description also exactly fits plaque psoriasis, which is what I have had in varying degrees for some years, the strangest thing was that it completely disappeared for two years after I gave up smoking.

It was very itchy drove me a little batty (not unusual VC) but now no the symtoms have really subsided. But I would really like to get it fully cleared up though I realise this may not be possible. I was in fact about to go down the GP route

Then I tonight I thought to myself I know just the place for some good advice and saw people were expressing concern over to many garden related threads so here I am.
