  • JBA problem

I tried to email JBA today to ask about the status of my seed potato order but the email got bounced back. It seems they've had a server failure and can not answer any queries about individual orders but are working hard to get orders dispatched. Please, please Iain, don't run out of Lady Christl before you get to my order. I can live without the others but not my Lady Christl

Have you tried phoning them SC? Old-skool I know, but probably worth a go

I know they have had both issues with the spuds and their emails; one not helping the other is it?

Lady Christl are in the Wyevale garden centres - loads of them - or whatever they're called nowadays.

I emailed them about a week ago chasing my order and got one back on a Sunday evening telling me that they were working hard getting orders out but were doing them in order of the actual order so couldn't tell me when mine would arrive. I tried via their website originally but that had a fault which I pointed out in the e-mail (used the one which I already had). They confirmed that they knew about the fault and were trying to sort it. Not sure if that's still an issue or not as I've not checked. Am now a bit worried that I'll not get what I want as I'm quite particular about the types I want to grow and ideally I wanted to have the first lot of my first earlies chitting by now so that I can plant them nice and early in the tunnel

I ordered mine on 16th Nov and still haven't had delivery, which may help you work out whether you might get them soon.

Looking back to last year, JBA didn't despatch my order until 6th Feb, so plenty of time yet, though doesn't help you if you want to get chitting now.

I did order from T&M this year which arrived earlier in Jan (when temps were below freezing at night, which I thought they normally try to avoid).

Oh dear, I didn't order mine until 31st December! Finger's crossed at least the first earlies arrive soon.

I got a bag of Lady Crystl from T&M a couple of weeks ago. Only took about 2 weeks to arrive. Was amazed, maybe my order accidentally fell to the top of the pile or something.

I ordered my spuds from T&M on Boxing Day, quite a lot were showing as Out of Stock by then. Haven't received them yet though.

                            Got mine today.

They did however have to substitute the purple majestys that I ordered due to bad weather for salad blue (5 for 5). But thats fine as I couldn't decide when ordering, and they're pretty similar.

The general sizes of tubers seems smaller this year (from other orders and in the shops too), parhaps due to weather also. Though there are a few bigger ones. Which is tempting me to do another experiment. Does the size of tuber make much difference to final yield?
