  • Planning a family holiday!

My wife and I sent off for our kids first passport for our first amily holiday abroard we are planning in Febuary half term.

All three are excited to be going on a plane for the first time the only thing im worried about is that their passports wont make it back in time the money was debited from our account yesterday!

Anyone applied for their first passport recently if so what time frame did it take?

    Thanks

yeah I know VC however in order for my wife to get the time off in feb she has to work most days now and for me public transport is a pain in the a$$ due to school runs as there not open weekends!

We were thinking about Spain but in feb I doubt the weather will be that good so we are now looking at Eygpt were not decided fully until the passports are in our hands!

Yes BM these will be bought straight after booking not just for the kids but for my wife she suffers with her ears when flying but only during landing.
I have even seen her cry over it she took boilies to Turkey and she said they helped massively!

I have never had a problem touch wood as I have been all over the place in planes, It would have been embarrassing crying in front of the Army boys hehe

My daughter's renewed (not first) took 13 days just before christmas. They would probably know at the post office if you ask them.

Unless you attend in person or pay for fast track it's anything up to six weeks.

That's the official line that they cover themselves with and first applications take longer than renewals - more checks! Shouldn't be a problem with Liverpool office?

I know Liverpool are very efficient at turning them around. Newport I shouldn't imagine to be a problem. Peterborough and Croydon are horrendous and to be avoided where possible. I'd say with checks, if no printing hold ups then you will probably see them back within two weeks.

I thought they were quite speedily processed, nowadays. My Husband's certainly was when it was renewed, a couple of years ago. We used the Post Office checking service, as it's even quicker. If you have put the expected travel date on the application form, you should be OK.

Newport have always been pretty quick. Our last lot were under a week, and that was in June.

Just before we got married, we drove over to Newport, took the passports in, got checked etc etc. Had a lovely day out.

Passports dropped through the door next morning! Well impressed.

But these aren't renewals G4 and they have to do the necessary checks on new issue.
