  • Runner Bean Firestorm

I was wondering if anyone had grown this bean, it is supposed to be self pollenating and might therefore prove useful.

Any comments about taste, size of harvest etc please.

Nope sorry only grown Moonlight which is self pollinating. Is Firestorm the new one from Marshalls? Have been tempted myself but need more room.

Yes similar to moonlight but red, hence the name. I was preordering my seed potatoes today and happened to notice it.

i have grown firestorm runner beans this year on my allotment for the first time. they have been superb, i have not had a crop this big before. they have a lovely taste and been totally stringless

i will certainly grow them again next year.

I grew it this year, and it started flowering/setting very early, it cropped well all the way up the canes and then stopped - the propper runners started a little later, but have branched a lot more, and they're still trying, despite the weather.
I didn't actually weigh the yields to compare the two - but it seems as if it will be a good idea to grow both sorts to get the longest harvest period

Firestorm and Moonlight are both excellent and have the best points of both climbing French and runner beans. I no longer bother with other varieties. They are shorter than runners but superb taste and texture.

Has anyone tried Equator runners this year. I have picked up a pack half price in Wilkos and was just wondering ...
