  • Purple sweet potato

Does anyone know where to buy purple sweet potato? I would like try to grow slips and then plant them next year.
I know Thompson and Morgan sells orange fleshed sweet potato slips but the taste of the purple one is so much nicer and more nutritiouse.

There has been a thread on here before about these http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...oes_26760.html
Where are you Pineberry? If you could add your location to your profile it would help us - especially if we spot any in our local shops!

Some of us have been growing slips from tubers - read all about it here http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ers_62692.html - if you have a couple of hours to spare!

I have tried about a month ago to grow slips from a sweet potato I bought from asda it was orange flesh but less watery variety then other stores. Anyway I followed the instructions and stuck half into water after abou three weeks it started rotting and nothing else. But i am gonna try again if I find purple ones.

Keep trying, Pineberry. Some of mine rotted too. Don't put too much in the water. I have some dark red ones with a white inside growing too. I think I bought those in Sainsbugs.

I managed to get hold of the sweet purple ones and stuck them into the water on the 26 December. Already today I got some roots, I am over the moon.

Where did you get them from? I have tried everywhere to get purple sweet potatoes, I have had no luck.

                        How are they growing?
