  • Why don't they invent.......

Having just struggled to change the lightbulb in a downlighter, because I couldn't see the holes to line it up with once the bulb was in front of it, and there was no way of gripping the bulb to turn it - I've still only done 2 out of 4 I'm sure there must be an easier way to change a light bulb (without needing a roomful of men!).
So that's the first thing I'd invent - an easy to change lightbulb - or even better a bulb that never needs changing.
    What would you invent?

Just an idea VC but the next time you buy a light make sure it has a screw fitting

Bit late for that Matt - with a room full of downlighters
If the fitting would drop from the ceiling so that you could change the bulb at ground level then press a recoil button and it would return to the ceiling, it would help me no end

You can get a suction cup for changing downlighters, like these:

Halogen light bulb remover. Suction Cup glass screen removal tool. - Halogen light bulb removal tool.

Thanks BM. I have something like that but it will only sucker onto a smooth surface and the LED lights I've just bought are not smooth. Also, when I try to unscrew the bulb, using the sucker, it just unsucks itself.
I think I'm about to swear at the bladdy things

I would invent an automatic spade for the lottie, and maybe an automatic weeder too.... then I wouldnt have to do anymore digging or weeding and just get to do the fun jobs of planting!

Matt, I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to ladders Reaching the ceiling means the 4th step on the stepladder. - to get that far I had to give myself a peptalk - "Confront your fears" I kept repeating, Even when I'm up there, I want to hang onto the ladder with one hand and my knees are shaking. I know its irrational but I'd rather pat a crocodile than climb a ladder. Its one of the few times when I wish there was someone else around - even if just to hold the ladder steady.

No need to feel self-conscious Veggie - as Sigmund Freud once put it, they can only be changed if they really want to change...

I get shaky just stood on the stepstool.....I hate ladders with a passion. Especially the attic ladder which wreaked revenge on me recently.
