  • Courgettes still coming !!

    Hi all
Despite the horrible weather, I'm still getting loads of courgettes from my plants. The foilage is starting to look a bit raggy, but whilst they're still producing fruits I'd like to leave them in. Is anyone else still getting produce from them?

Yes, loads. Esp the flying saucers and the duck shaped ones.

Off my 4 Black beauty plants (sown 6th May) I've only had 1 courgette but by the looks of it I'll have 2 more by the end of the week. Not sure what's happened this year because by now we're usually picking them every day.
      Location....East Midlands.

Some have given up after a rubbish season; but 8 Ball and another round variety (seeds of Italy one I think) are doing brilliantly. PIcked another two hefty ones at the weekend, and another four will be ready in the next couple of days. THe leaves are all still green and healthy. We've got a freezer full of diced courgette from two plants alone. To be fair, the rubbish ones were in grow bags for the first time this year (never again), and the 8 Ball in open ground at the lottie...

I've got 2 plants - 1 black beauty & 1 defender. Been keeping a tally to compare and had 44 courgettes from the defender and 19 on the black beauty. The black beauty a bit more tasty though.

Still a few developing, but definately now slowing down.

I composted my plants last week - the yellow Zephyr variety produced loads which have gone into roasted veg and been eaten, or are sliced and in the freezer.

Another perfect of example of the complete lack of consistency this year!

Our weather's started to turn a bit nastier now, so I'm planning on pulling all mine up this week so I can get the beds ready for the winter. They've all produced 'something', some loads and others not many, tunnel ones bigger than outdoors but quantity about the same. I love the flying saucers, definitely one for next year .
