  • My First Peas

Yesterday when I was tidying out the blow away in preparation for moving things down to the allotment for planting in my brand new beds I noticed that the few surviving peas in there have some flowers on.

Now I have never managed to get peas to the flowering stage before, so this alone was cause for great celebration, but there was more to come!

Whilst I was proudly showing off my triumph to our neighbour I suddenly noticed these green, flattish long things on the plants.

I had three pea pods too!!!

Needless to say, they were eaten straight from the plant as we stood in the garden. One for the neighbour and two for me (I did grow them after all) and they were the nicest mange tout I have ever tasted - so fresh, sweet and juicy, and so much 'pea flavour'.

I am looking forwards to getting them into the ground where they can have room to spread and provide me with loads more lovely peas.

I'm so excited about planting into my new raised beds that I'm like a kid in a sweetshop - I don't know what to have next
