  • My Little Smallholding!!

I've spent a large part of my life yearning for a smallholding - and I know there are other Grapes who feel the same. Today, I realised that I already have a "smallholding" - most of us do!! Its just a matter of scale
So from now on I shall regard my garden as my Little Smallholding and just get on with farming it - because it doesn't matter whether its an allotment, a balcony or a window box - the aim is to grow as much food as we can to be as selfsufficient as possible.
From today I am not a Gardener, I'm a Smallholder - I'm so happy!! I've achieved an ambition without it costing a penny
    Are you a Smallholder too?

I thought you had to keep livestock to be a smallholder?

I have kept chooks and bees here but its not practical to keep them when I'm not always around. I don't think keeping animals is essential on a smallholding - not on mine anyway
(I have 2 dogs, do they count?)

My little smallholding has 2 "fields" and a wood! So they're 70 miles apart, they still make up my smallholding!! It makes me feel so much more satisfied with life - having a "smallholding"

I say 'Go for it!' VC. If you get joy from having a small holding then it doesn't matter what you have on it or will do with it you have it happening.
Now, if only I could persuade someone to think of my acres as a small holding!

Today, I'm a new me!! Totally different outlook on life I have a smallholding and I'm a farmer - with a "job". I'm going to become useful
Lots of lifestyle changes afoot (in my head anyway). In a few months time the old VC will have become unrecognisable.
Please don't ask me to explain how because I'm still working on the plan Its all positive though
