  • Potato flowering issue??

    Hi,

I have got king edwards in and the flower buds have developed but they seem to be dropping off before they have opened, I'm guessing this isn't normal if it isn't what could be the issue?

    Thanks,

Have a furtle and see if they are ready for lifting, I lifted mine last week.

Ok, while ever you have foliage, they should be ok.

Let the haulm turn brown and die back, unless you get blight. With King Teds this will usually be between 22 and 24 weeks however due to the weather this year may be different.

If your sure its blight cut of and destroy the haulm, and leave the spuds in the groung for a few days before harvest.

I think you're supposed to leave the spuds underground for a couple of weeks so that they don't get infected when you lift them, if they're for storing.

It's ok to lift them for immediate use though
