  • removing male flowers on courgettes?

It seems that most of the first flowers are male. I know they're necessary for pollination, but there is so many of them I'm wondering if removing some of them could do good by saving the plant's energy for the female ones? Say if you have 2 females and 10 males, and you remove 5 of the males, you'll still have enough males for pollination, and the plant might put more energy into ripening the females. Is my thinking correct?

Seems reasonable to me,as the weather here is mostly dire I have been going out in dry periods cutting off a few recently opened males & dusting the pollen off into a pot in the greenhouse, then using that to brush on the few females as there seems to be a lack of insects this year.
Same goes for marrow & pumpkins
