  • Potatoes in flower

Why have my maincrop Desiree pots, planted in the ground, have loads of flower on them but my first early Pentland Javelin, planted in growing bags, have nothing at all? I obviously haven't needed to water the maincrop, but have been making sure the bag-grown ones are kept moist. I know I didn't get them muddled when I planted them !! Any ideas?

It's happening a lot this year...have a feel about in the soil under the PJs, if the spuds are the size you like - then dig'em up and eat'em If not leave another week or so and try again.

Not only do not all varieties flower but those that do seem to please themselves if and when they're going to bother.
