    "Herby Heads" - Great idea for class or club - (any age)

    I'm posting this as a thread but if anyone thinks it would be better in a collection of ideas, feel free to move it.

    One of my colleagues saw these at the Urdd Eisteddfod and said they really are brilliant.

    IMPT you have to use enamal paint if you don't want it to fall off but I think you could try sandpapering the bottles and using something permenant but not quite so nasty if your school/LEA are fussy. I always sandpaper/score milk bottles anyway for glueing.

      sorry me again, can you tell me what the sponge and cardboard collar is for- not sure if it's for watering or what and I'm wondering if I could leave that bit out!

        Here's a softer version, Grass Heads:

        Cutest Grass Heads - Step by Step Instructions to Make

        We use bird seed, it's often cheaper than grass seed (try the £ shops).

            The sponge was meant to aid water retention. I'm not sure if it's necessary or even works, TS would probably have a better idea than me.

            I think the cardboard is so that the face is still milk bottle coloured rather than soil coloured. It would also hold some water, too, of course. Try with and without, I like to give children choices and the with and without sponge could become an investigation.

                marchogaeth, I was wondering whether it was something to do with roots but that makes more sense! We are using these as part of a garden party exhibition that we are doing at school so I'll let you know how they go down.
                Thankyou too, for the grass heads-we have used these before and they are also very successful!
