    Eek, not another one!

Two of my broccoli plants have started flowering, they're barely big enough to be worth eating, what's going on? A Google search suggests it's because they're too warm, so should I have waited until after summer to sow these?

One of my PSB bolted when it was still in a 6" pot. I just cut the head of and let it grow on. The weather this year is playing havoc with all sorts of plants.

I agree with Colin. I don't think it's necessarily too warm, I think it's just because the weather keeps changing and plants think it's autumn and then summer again for half a day, and then winter, and then back to autumn. They're just majorly confused, like me

I would snip off the flower stalk and then feed them something high nitrogen to promote more leafy growth, and hopefully you'll get some edible side-shoots before the plant calls it a day.

        Cool, thanks very much.

I assumed that cutting the head off, as I did with one, would basically kill it off.
Right then, off to the garden I go.

Lol, mine did the same thing! Full of yellow flowers! I cut heads off and 5 mins later the microscopic side shoots burst into flower too. I think I'm going to pull them up and plant something else. Again. Broccoli leaf soup anyone?

rocket responding in a similar way - keep pulling off small leaves and eating in salads some still going to flower

as for broccoli flowers - can use them in salad mixes:

All my kale has bolted too. Hoping there's enough time to resow and still get a crop.

My calabrese is the same too, I just keep going round nipping the tops off and eating them. This has never happened before.
