Help please! I have found cut worms in my raised bed eating my lettuces, how can I get rid of them?

It's a bit like slug-picking. They hide underground during the day and come out at night, so it's a 'pick them off by torchlight' job.
    Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
    Endless wonder.

I wrap a 2x3inch bit of silver foil around the stalk where it'll go into the ground - they can't seem to deal with it. I am 3 seasons on from discovering them in my soil and the unprotected cabbages I've planted out so far this year have all survived. So wait for them to go and protect in the meantime!

Interesting solution Vicky....not sure it's practical with lettuce plugs? I'll give it a go.

They are a pain. If i see a wilted lettuce I just dig around it with a hand fork....normally I'll find the culprit....take great pleasure in leaving it for the robin.

I keep a few plants back to fill any gaps (OCD)

Thanks for your advice, will give the silver foil a go before hunting in the dark!
