  • Midsummer Fayre?

As I stood leaning on a farm gate, gazing out across the valley this morning, I thought I could see goings on in the hamlet down across the valley.

Looked like someone was hanging out bunting at the Gardener's Rest. Is there going to be a Midsummer Fayre do you think?

    Endless wonder.

Strangely Nicos was thinking that very thought at that very moment.
She'd heard the distant tinkle of bells coming from the village green.

"Oh myyyyy" she said gleefully- rushing off to find her bestist dancing cloggs.....

Ooo-er missus, I think you're right. I'll hurry over to Mr P to tell him to get his pickled onions out!

It must have taken ages for Jules to make that bunting. Are his pickled onions the sweet small ones that I like best Patch and is there any pork pie?

I think VC is sorting out the pork pie and sausages

Tell you what though....I'm sure there are some old umberellas at the back of the vicerage- just in case the weather changes

And if there aren't enough umbrellas we can always use rhubarb leaves.

Lord knows we have plenty at the moment and who doesn't love a nice hot rhubarb crumble whatever the weather. Just serve with hot custard or ice cream depending on the prevailing temperatures.

I'll pass on the Umble Emma thanks, if the weather changes just reserve me a seat at the bar with the pork pie and a pint of best bitter. Could do with a bit of a hoover in the tap room, there are still pine needles from last year's tree.

I'm thinking of setting up a tombola stall. Got any unwanted gifts to donate?

I hope someone's made borage ice cubes for the Pimm's.
