  • How high are your climbing beans?

    Hi all,
Just wondered how everyones climbing beans have been doing? I have lost one whole planting due to unexpected cold spell and had to resow the lot. Now some of those are dead or near it from the awful wind. (resow again!!)
My surviving frenchies are 1 and half to 2 feet tall, and my runners have flowers but are only about 8 inches.
What should their growth rate be? My gardening book says harvest from the end of June - I think not.

I'm half way up the canes at the lotty and my polytunnel runners are about two foot high after two-three weeks planted. I haven't even sown climbing frenchies yet.

Everything looks OK. Runners are a couple of foot, borlottis maybe one foot, but Frenchies pretty wee. They were all planted some time ago...

Mine keep falling over! Some are a couple of feet and some only a few inches. Others wait in the wings.....to replace the nibbled or snapped ones

My frenchies are about 6ins high and not looking too happy. The runners are about 2ft and doing much better, probably coz they are in a sheltered, sunny position next to the house.

My climbing beans are a 9 inches and have been for a couple weeks.
My dwarf french beans are sticking to dwarfism at about 7 inches, i assumed they would be bushy being dwarf but they are spindly things the snails like and have about 3 fours per stem. Maybe i should have planted more than 8 lol
