  • Raised bed advice

    Hi All,

I built some low raised beds a couple of years ago out of those lengths of log roll like things. (Not log roll, in straight panels, but looks like log roll).

After just a couple of years they've rotted, even though they were apparently treated. Now I need to replace them, but I only want something low, maybe 100mm. Standard sleepers would be too big, as the bed is an L shape, and only about 500mm wide, 2000mm long. I had a look at WoodBlocX but they seem very expensive.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks,

    Dom

We've just been given some secondhand plastic decking which is 1200mm - and we understand from the decking person who passed them on to us that they will last far longer than wood. Just an idea.

Mine is made from a couple of disassembled old pallets...doesn't look pretty but then it won't be entered into a beauty pageant. Best of all, it was free.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

I tried decking boards, but they cost quite a lot.

            8" x 2" x 16' lengths for mine.

            On my plot I've 10" x 5" x 8' lengths of joist timber.

I've also used gravel boards for cheap fruit beds.
