    First thing

    What is the first thing you do when you get to your lottie (or venture out into the garden )

    Myself, I take a slow walk round and give everything a thorough inspection .....

        Im the same i check everything at least once a day to check for slug damage or cat damage

          Wander around in one direction, then wander around again in the opposite direction. It all looks so different that way - like having a garden that twice as big as you think!

            Pretty much the same here, thorough inspection of raised bed - looking for slugs and any signs of...well anything really, then enter the greenhouse and slowly move from container to container checking once again for plant condition, compost moisture level (poking a finger in), parasites etc. I also take the time to note the changes the plants make from day to day, week to week, watching and learning. It's all new to me and I'm finding it quite fascinating.
            Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

              Pour a cuppa and then see to the chooks...once they know I'm there I won't get any peace until they're fed , watered and those that want a fuss have had one.

                At the moment it's blow the flame out on the parrafin heater in the nursery greenhouse. Then it's the "tour of duty". Love doing that. So exciting when something new puts in an appearance!

                    Like most, I just stand and stare, and walk about a bit and stare a bit more.

                    Then if my new plot is like the last one; take one large knife and one small bucket and tackle any marestail that's come up.

                        I usually go straight after a tea or coffee as we live quite close - I inspect and check, open the shed and select my tools of the day.

                          Depends on what I have planned. If I'm short of time, I just get stuck in but I do have a good look around on the way to my shed for tools with a view to sussing out problems or damage.

                            I do the same as most of the others^^^^^ but without the cup of tea/coffee.
                            My glass shed is down the bottom of the 2 plots so I wander down there, checking as I go, leave my bag in the shed and put my boots on, then wander up round the other plot to make sure all is ok before I get stuck in to whatever jobs I've got planned.
                            Forbidden Fruits make many Jams.

                              When we had a lottie we used to stick on our wellies or boots-unpack the car of any tools we'd brought- then go for a gentle wander removing any fleece or cloches en route.

                              Nice deep breaths of fresh air, listening to the wildlife and the satisfaction of seeing what you and Nature have created....heaven on a plate! ( rather Zen don't you think!!!!! )
